ENThe paper explores attitudes of elderly parents towards filial responsibilities in Lithuanian transnational families and reveals significant predictors of normative solidarity. Using the evidence from a national representative survey of elderly parents who stay behind in Lithuania, we compare normative solidarity between two types of transnational families: elderly parents having only migrant children and those who have both migrant and non-migrant children. We found no significant differences between two family types. The data suggest that elderly parents who stay behind are in favor of familistic attitudes and the most appropriate model of care is provided at home by their children. The results of logistic regression reveal significant individual and familial predictors of normative solidarity which differently affects attitudes towards various forms of intergenerational solidarity.
