Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje nagrinėjamas knygos „Oeconomia“ (1546, Karaliaučius) eiliuotosios prakalbos kaip galimo pavyzdinio modelio M. Mažvydo „CATECHISMVSA PRAsty Szadei“ 1547 (1547, Karaliaučius) eiliuotajai prakalbai klausimas. Verčiamą J. Seklucjano „Katechismy text prosti“ (1545, Karaliaučius) Mažvydas papildė krikščioniškos etikos pagrindus pateikiančiu „Urėdų“ skyriumi. Vienas iš Urėdų teminį pobūdį atitinkančių kūrinių tuometinėje Mažvydo aplinkoje buvo J. Seklucjano parengta „Oeconomia“. Joje esančią J. S. prakalbą „Argumentum albo summa tych książek“ ir Mažvydo prakalbą „KNIGIELES Pačias byla Letuvinikump ir Žemaičiump“ sieja perteikiamų idėjų, sintaksinio eiliavimo ir pavadinimo modelio atitiktys. ENFrom the point of view of authorship, the first Lithuanian book has many layers: most of the text has been translated, except for the prefaces and dedications, which are treated as the original. When translating the short Catechism by J. Seklucjan (Katechismy text prasti, 1545, Königsberg), Mažvydas inserted an extra section entitled Urėdai (‘ethical instructions’, ‘obligations’). This section of the Catechism consists of quotations from the Holy Script. (Chr. Stang (1929) established that Mažvydas had translated the quotations from the Latin Cathechismi corpus by J. Willich (1541).) The section offers the foundations of Christian ethics to everyone who makes effort to live following God’s will. The idea about the importance of leading a life as prescribed by God and the success of such a life has been many times emphasized by Mažvydas in his poetical preface. A search for writings thematically similar to "Urėdai" in the then milieu of Mažvydas opens up an opportunity to relate his Catechism to Oeconomia, another book by Seklucjan published in Königsberg in 1546. The book starts with a preface Argumentum albo summa tych książek (OE 96_22), which is written in verse and initialled J. S. The preface might have served as a model for Mažvydas when he was writing the preface to the first Lithuanian book. A comparison of his preface "KNIGIELES Pačias byla Letuvinikump ir Žemaičiump" to J. S.’s preface Argumentum albo summa tych książek has helped identify certain parallels between the ideas and the versification in the two sources as well as a similar pattern of their titles. The parallel highlights the didactic and poetic talent of Mažvydas and points out that the title of the preface to the first Lithuanian book should be worded in contemporary Lithuanian not as a verb phrase but rather as a noun phrase, where the noun byla (NOM SG) is the head (also cf. the" interpretation of knygelės byla (‘the story of a book’) proposed by VI. Toporov (2001)). [From the publication]
