Pristatomas kultūrinis, literatūrinis, edukacinis tyrimas, inspiruotas C. Milošo ir A. J. Greimo įžvalgų, pagrįstas literatūros archeologijos koncepcija bei lanksčios didaktikos metodika. ENThe article brings forward the problem of the Lithuanian literary (self-) education in schools (amidst the concept of globalization): how does one organize literary (self-) education to make it interesting, deep and meaningful? Based on insights by C. Milosz and A. J. Greimas into homeland creative powers and the readers’ desire for extraordinary experience when reading a text, a set of texts for analysis is provided. The concept of a literary archaeology and research model based on the flexible didactics methodology is introduced; moreover, the design of the model and its results are analytically discussed in the article. Analysis of the different aspects of the survey results leads to the conclusion that each of the four age groups (17-18, 21-23, 50-60, 70-90) shares common attitude values (home, family, and human relationships, harmony with nature) and a negative approach to oppositional relationship with known/unknown human beings. The approach to read the texts reveals only illustrative trends of statistical average values and must be viewed with caution: although classic Lithuanian literary texts - the national masterpieces - are top rated, an informal assessment of the text complexity reveals that the vast majority of respondents paid attention specifically to modern and post-modern Lithuanian literary texts and The Valley of Isa, a novel by C. Milosz to be treated as particularly interesting findings of multilayer literary archaeology. The article ends with conclusions as recommendations for literary development of the (self-) educational process in Lithuanian secondary schools, namely: organization of the literary educational process according to the readers' intrinsic motivation for individual training; active reading articulating their experiences and the promotion of genuine attention to other people’s opinions and discoveries seeking the recognition, conservation, cultivation of the Baltic attitude.
