Summary / Abstract:

ENThe relevance of the subject: "Aggression is defined as the behaviour which is aimed at hurting another person intentionally or damaging a toy" (Boyd, Bee 2011, p. 329). All 4-5-year-old children behave aggressively; however, the form, frequency and reasons for aggression change in the age of pre-school. G. Gini, T. Pozzoli, S. Hymel (2014) state that aggressive behaviour can be stimulated by computer games and TV shows. The television discloses anti-social behaviour that the children are not yet acquainted with. The children do not know how to react properly, so they adopt aggressive behaviour directly and copy it. Having examined older children's behaviour, it has been established that changes of aggressive behaviour occur between the third and sixth year of ages: the expression of physical aggression decreases while verbal aggression continues (Abromaitienė, 2012). The problem of the research is that educators and families have insufficient knowledge about the aggression of 4-5-year-old children and the possibilities of its adjustment in an institution of pre-school education. The object of the research is the ways of aggression of 4-5-year-old children and the possibilities of their adjustment in an institution of pre-school education. The aim of the research is to determine the ways of expressing aggression by 4-5-year old children and the possibilities of their adjustment in an institution of pre-school education. The objectives of the research are as follows: 1) to review the concept of aggression, ways and possibilities of adjusting it for 4-5-year-old children theoretically; 2) to reveal the attitude of educators and parents towards 4-5-year-old children's expressions of aggression and the possibilities of its adjustment in an institution of pre-school education. Methods of the research: analysis of scientific literature, survey (interview) and pedagogical observation. The research carried out revealed that parents and educators have insufficient knowledge about the ways of aggression of 4-5-year-old children and the possibilities of their adjustment. Parents and educators do not look for solutions on how to deal with the expression of child's aggression in an institution of pre-school education. Having summarised the results of the research, it was decided to organise an educational project aiming at involving children into joint activities that encourage a positive behaviour as well as providing knowledge and practical skills to the parents and educators about the possibilities of the adjustment of the aggression of 4-5-year-old children.
