ENThe Lithuanian Qualifications Framework ascribes the qualification of doctor (PhD) to the highest (eighth) level (LR Government decree of the 24th August 2011). Requirements for the qualification of this level in Lithuania answer the European Union criteria. The positioning of educational science (social sciences) and the growth of educational researchers are indicated by the most vital indicator, i.e., by the number of prepared and successfully defended dissertations, and certificates issued to the holders of the pedagogical title of professor. The statistical data concerning the 1990-2014 doctor habilitatus dissertations in social sciences and defended doctoral (PhD) dissertations in educational science illustrate the situation of pedagogical sciences at Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences. Focusing on the statistical overview of dissertations (educational science, social sciences) defended in 1993-2014, this work defines the growth of educational researchers at Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences (Vilnius Pedagogical University before 2011).
