ENThe article aims at making the buildings of Nemėžis manor estate, situated near Vilnius, topical in the sense of heritage protection. The settlement of Nemėžis, situated by the Nemėžės river (the right tributary of the Rudamina), has got a long history. It is known that in the times of Vytautas Magnus there was a manor of the great dukes of Lithuania and there stood a castle. Nemėžis manor of the great dukes belonged to the voivodship of Vilnius, established after Horodle agreements in 1413. After the administrative, court and war reforms of 1564-1566 Nemėžis was included into the territory of county of Vilnius. The greatest authority of the voi- vodships belonged to voivode governors, who rented the manors of voivodships. Keepers took care how to get income as big as possible from the estate lands. At the end of the 18th c. Nemėžis manor went to the active political character of that time, the composer, the duke Mykolas Kleopas Oginskis. Later, the owners have changed more than once. In 1828 the manor was purchased by the earl of Biržai Mykolas Juozapas Tiškevičius (1761-1839). Nemėžis homestead was created by the family of the earls Tiškevičiai. In 1836 the one-storey classicism-style manor was built, the stud building, situated in front of it, and the servant's quarter, standing on the side, formed the representational yard. Although more than one project of the homestead building restoration and application was prepared, none of them Was even begun to be implemented. All homestead buildings are very derelict at the moment, what is shown by the photographs made in 2016 and attached to the article. In the heritage of battle places one has to distinguish among battles (over 1000 participants), skirmishes (between 100 and 1000 participants), encounters (less than 100 participants) and sieges. A battle place is a complex (historic, memorial, archaeologic (the most authentic), landscape) protectable object. [From the publication]
