Samuelio Boguslavo Chilinskio "Biblijos vertimo į lietuvių kalbą pagrindimas"

LTStraipsnyje skelbiamas Samuelio Boguslavo Chilinskio (apie 1632–1668) darbas „Biblijos vertimo į lietuvių kalbą pagrindimas“. Tai dalis S. B. Chilinskio plano išversti ir išspausdinti visą Šventąjį Raštą lietuvių kalba. To meto politinės (1655–1667 m. vyko Abiejų Tautų Respublikos karas su Rusija ir Švedija) ir kultūrinės (S. B. Chilinskis evangelikų reformatų sinodo lėšomis aukštąjį išsilavinimą galėjo įgyti tik užsienyje) aplinkybės buvo viena iš paskatų, lėmusių tai, kad šio darbo jis ėmėsi Anglijoje. Straipsnio autorė pateikdama Chilinskio biografijos dalį ir analizuodama dokumento angliškąjį ir lotyniškąjį tekstus nagrinėja, ar „Biblijos vertimo į lietuvių kalbą pagrindimas“ atsirado kaip sudėtingos kultūrų sąveikos rezultatas. Autorė straipsnyje atskleidžia, kad S. B. Chilinskis deklaruodamas kai kurias vertybes demonstruoja naujųjų laikų mentaliteto elementus, taip pat I. Lukšaitė daro išvadą, kad skelbiamas tekstas yra ryškus kontaktų mezgimo ir atsivėrimo kitų kultūrų siūlomoms vertybėms liudijimas. Šioje publikacijoje S. B. Chilinskio darbas „Biblijos vertimo į lietuvių kalbą pagrindimas“ pateikiamas paeiliui lotynų ir lietuvių kalbomis. Į lietuvių kalbą tekstą išvertė Irena Balčienė, vertimą taisė dr. Sigitas Narbutas. Komentarus apie LDK realijas parašė Ingė Lukšaitė, Anglijos istorijos realijas komentavo Sugiko Nishikawa (Japonija, Kobe) ir Stephenas C. ENThis article introduces the work of Samuelis Boguslavas Chilinskis (1632?-1668) entitled “An Account of the Translation of the Bible into the Lithuanian Tongue...”. This is the part revealing the plan by S.B. Chilinskis to translate and print the Holy Scripture in its entirety in Lithuanian. The political circumstances (the Commonwealth‘s war with Russia and Sweden in 1655-1667) and cultural circumstances (S.B. Chilinskis could only receive higher education abroad with the financial support of the Evangelical Reformed Synod) were some of the motives that determined that he began this work in England. The author of this article provides a part of Chilinskis’ biography and analyses the document written in English and Latin, examining whether “An Account of the Translation of the Bible into the Lithuanian Tongue...” appeared as the result of the complicated interaction of cultures. The author reveals in the article, that S.B. Chilinskis demonstrated elements of a new mentality reflecting the times by declaring certain values, and I. Lukšaitė also makes a conclusion, that the text that is presented is a significant testimony to contact and openness to values offered by other cultures. S.B. Chilinskis’ work “An Account of the Translation of the Bible into the Lithuanian Tongue” is provided in this publication line by line in both Lithuanian and Latin. The text was translated into Lithuanian by Irena Balčienė, and corrected by Dr. Sigitas Narbutas. Ingė Lukšaitė provided remarks on aspects related to the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, with remarks on aspects of English history provided by Sugiko Nishikawa (Kobe, Japan) and Stephan C. Rowell (Vilnius, Lithuania).
