Užsienio kalbos kompetencija kaip aukštosios mokyklos dėstytojo edukacinės kompetencijos dalis (atvejo studija)

LTPasaulyje ir Europoje vykstant visuotinės integracijos procesams, vis didesnę reikšmę įgyja gebėjimas kalbėti ir susitarti. Kalba yra tas įrankis, kurio pagalba ir dėka visuomenė gali išspręsti bet kurias iškilusias problemas. Mokėjimas bendrauti ne tik gimtąja, bet ir kitomis kalbomis tapo ypač būtinas Europos Sąjungos piliečiams, tarp kurių labiausiai paplitusi anglų kalba. Ja bendraujama, mokomasi ir mokoma. Kalbos mokymas/is yra bendro universitetinio lavinimo neatsiejama dalis. Norint suvokti ir įsisavinti pasaulinius mokslo, technikos pasiekimus, turėti galimybes įsidarbinti pasaulinėje darbo rinkoje, kitos kalbos žinojimas tampa tiesiog privalus, todėl užsienio kalba vis daugiau specialybių dalykų jau dėstoma ir Lietuvos aukštosiose mokyklose, tame tarpe ir Kauno technologijos universitetas (toliau: Universitetas). Nuo aukštojo mokslo institucijos dėstytojo bendrinės ir specialybės užsienio kalbos mokėjimo priklauso studentams perteikiamų žinių kokybė. Straipsnyje siekiama analizuoti kaip aukštosios mokyklos dėstytojo žinios atitinka Europos Sąjungos, Lietuvos švietimo ir Universiteto kalbų politikos dokumentų reikalavimus, įvardijami esami kalbos įgūdžių trūkumai. Remiantis atliktu palyginamuoju tyrimu pateikiamos rekomendacijos dėstytojų užsienio kalbos įgūdžių plėtojimui. [Iš leidinio]

ENThe quality of studies in the institution of higher education depends on the educational competence of a higher education institution teacher. The competence of foreign language is a constituent part of the higher education teacher’s educational competence. Since the English language, as a lingua franca, (in addition to other foreign languages), is more and more frequently becoming the main language of instruction in a modern European university, the development of the higher education institution teacher’s foreign language competence has become highly relevant in the discourse of international communication. The article aims at analyzing and answering the question how a high school teacher’s foreign language competence satisfies the requirements provided in the European, Lithuanian and Kaunas Technology University (further: University) language and study policy documents. The object of the research is University teachers' foreign language competence and its compliance with the requirements for a modern teacher at a modern higher education institution. The aim of the research is to explore the University teachers' foreign language competence levels and needs, the opportunities for their improvement and its dynamics. The objectives of the research are to analyze the University teachers’ foreign language competence levels and foreign language needs based on the written survey data analysis, and to provide the recommendations for the higher education institution teachers’ foreign language competence development. The research methods employed are the review of the literature on the importance of foreign language competence in the study process at a modern European higher education institution, and descriptive and statistical analysis of the written survey of the University teachers’ foreign language competence results.The survey was carried out in 2015 when 33 teachers who teach in the science faculties were surveyed, and in 2017 when 60 teachers who teach in a wider range of faculty study programs. The conclusions are drawn and the recommendations are provided on the basis of the comparative analysis of the surveys carried out to obtain the data for the higher education institution teacher’s foreign language competence development.
