ENIn Vilnius, during the inter-war period, there were operating multiple scholarly associations as well as cultural organizations. Political life flourished; however, it was Stephan Bathory University itself, the resurgence of which took place in 1919, coupled with the people centered around it that heavily influenced the intellectual facet of the said city. In the present book, the author reconstructed the social, political, cultural, sports and scholarly activities on the part of the students of Stephan Bathory University in Vilnius. He highlighted all the organized areas of activities on the part of the academic youth in the period between 1919 and 1939. On the pages of the said monograph, there appear such student organizations as: Bratnia Pomoc [Brotherly Help], Akademicki Klub Włóczęgów Wileńskich [Academic Club of Vilnius Wanderers], Młodzież Wszechpolska [All-Polish Youth], Legion Młodych [Legion of the Young], Myśl Mocarstwowa [Imperial Thought], academic corporations as well as prominent figures of students’ life such as - among others - Czeslaw Miłosz, Antoni Gołubiew, Stanisław Stomma, Jerzy Putrament, Kazimierz Hałaburda and Wacław Korabiewicz. This book constitutes a sort of guidebook over organized students’ life in the area of Stephan Bathory University, with the author attempting to answer what kind of nature student organizations were of, who belonged to them, what forms of activities they displayed and what was their status not only at university but also in a broader context of the activities occurring outside the remit of the Stephan Bathory University.
