ENThe article deals with oikonyms of Lithuanian origin in Daugavpils region. The Lithuanian language was in use until the middle of the 19th c. on the left side of the river Daugava between Krāslava and Ilūkste. K. Būga counted almost 800 place names with the suffix iš k that stretch far into East Latvia. It is believed that only Lithuanians out of all the Baltic tribes had place names with this suffix. In this article 800 oikonyms of Daugavpils Region are described. The southern parts of the districts of Daugavpils and Krāslava are seen as part of old ethnic area of the Lithuanian language, Baltic and Slavonic languages contacts. [From the publication]
