J. S. Bach's Well-tempered klavier (WTK, I) as a monogramic cycle

LTPraėjus kone 300 metų po J. S. Bacho „Gerai temperuoto klavyro“ (sutr. GTK) I dalies sukūrimo, šiandien dar lieka neįminta šio ciklo kriptograminė sistema. Akivaizdžios monogramos BACH cikle nepastebėsime. Monograma BACH čia naudojama transponuotu, inversiniu, permutuotu, segmentuotu ir kt. pavidalais. Monograminės garsų sistemos branduolį sudaro du alternatyvūs ir vienas išvestinis BACH elementų sekos pavidalai. Alternatyvi intonacijos seka gaunama sukeičiant garsų raidinius simbolius vietomis. Tokiu būdu originalioji seka (O) permutuojama (P). Tarp šių dviejų monogramos pavidalų įsiterpia mišrus (M), kurio elementai tik iš dalies permutuojami. Taigi BACH (O), ABHC (P), ABCH (M). Monogramos BACH garsų intonacijos kiekviename ciklo skirsnyje pasirodo po vieną kartą. Pirmajame skirsnyje (I-VIII) monogramos garsus girdime Preliude ir fugoje d-moll (PJ ir O), antrajame (IX-XV) – Preliude e-moll (P) ir trečiajame (XVI-XXIV) – Preliude h-moll (M). Autentiški monogramos pavidalai skamba skirsnių pabaigoje (pirmasis ir trečiasis) arba pradžioje (antrasis). Monograminė paskutinės J. S. Bacho GTK I Fugos h-moll temos įžvalga leidžia ją susieti su visumine ciklo struktūra ir tonaciniu planu. Trys ciklo skirsniai ir jų tonacijų tonikos, pagrįstos keturiais skirtingais chromatiškai kylančiais garsais, gali priminti kompozitoriaus monogramos makropermutacijas. O Fugos temoje alternatyviai atsispindi didysis trijų skirsnių arba trijų makropermutacijų planas. ENThe cryptogram in J. S. Bach’s “Well-tempered clavier” cycle remains undeciphered. The obvious monogram BACH is not to be found in the cycle. It is used in this work in transposed, inverted, permutated, segmented, etc. ways. The nucleus of the monogram sounds is made up of two alternative and one derived BACH element sequence forms. An alternative sequence of intonations is obtained by transposing the notes’ written symbols. In this way the original sequence (O) is permutated (P). Between these two forms of the monogram a mixed form (M) is interposed, the elements of which are partly permutated. Hence, BACH (O), ABHC (P), ABCH (M). The intonations of the monogram BACH notes appear once in each section of the cycle. In the first section (I-VIII) we hear the monogram’s notes in the Prelude and fugue in d-moll (PJ and O), in the second (IX-XV) in the Prelude in e-moll (P) and in the third (XVI-XXIV) in the Prelude in h-moll (M). The authentic forms of the monogram are heard at the end of the sections (first and third) or at the beginning (second). An examination of the final monogrammatic theme of J. S. Bach’s WTC I Fugue in h-moll allows it to be associated with the overall structure of the cycle and its intonational plan. Three sections of the cycle and their intonational tonics, based on four distinct chromatically rising notes, may remind us of the composer’s monogrammatic macro-permutations. Meanwhile, in the theme of the Fugue a three section plan alternates with a three macro-permutation plan. Similar micro- and macro- reflections are characteristic of the cycles: e.g. the glide of the harmonies in an inverted fashion is justified in the intonations.
