ENThe article analyzes the large-scale land-ownership and its structure in Upytė poviat (district), based on the data of fumes (homesteads) inventory in 1690. There was determined the number of listed taxed fumes (homesteads) in Upytė poviat in 1690. The treasury documentation of Upytė poviat in 1690 includes 9408 listed taxed fumes (homesteads). The author deducted 4179 fumes (homesteads) of Šiauliai economy (with Šiauliai and Joniškis magdeburgics included) from 9408 Upytė poviat fumes (homesteads) and it was got 5229 fumes (homesteads) of Upytė poviat listed in 9100 kni2 area. During the inventory of fumes (homesteads) in Upytė poviat in 1690 the largest landholder Liudvika Karolina Radvilaitė managed 871 fumes (homesteads) directly (16,65 % of all fumes of poviat) and another 417 fumes were pledged by Karolina to the other landholders. By proprietary right Liudvika Karolina Radvilaitė hold at least 1288 fumes (homesteads) (i.e. 24,29 % of all fumes of poviat). Private fumes (homesteads) owned by Radvilai family made more than the quarter of all the poviat (district) lands. In four major elderships there were 1402 fumes (homesteads), i.e. 27,57 % of all declared taxed fumes in Upytė poviat in 1690. There was very big land concentration in the hands of the largest Upytė poviat landowners. Landowners with the lower social status than noblemen made a small group of landholders in Upytė poviat in 1690. The noblemen assigned to the medium nobility group owned and managed about 26 % of all fumes (homesteads) of the poviat. The most numerous part of Upytė poviat nobility consisted of minor noblemen. It was finally stated that the land-ownership of Upytė poviat (district) had very clear hierarchical structure. [From the publication]
