ENIn the article the author analyses the mythological, philosophical and legal concept of law. In order to reveal the mythological concept of justice, the author mainly refers to the features of the ancient Greek goddess of justice Themis. The short review of the philosophical concept of justice is grounded on the ideas of Aristotle and two modern philosophers—J. Derrida and G. Vattimo. Meanwhile, in order to reveal justice as a principle of law, the author refers to the jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania. In the conclusions presented at the end of the article, it is stated that the Constitutional Court administers justice in the sense of Article 109 of the Constitution, that "constitutional justice" oversteps the limits of the formal law and that in modern western democratic states legal argumentation is a necessary instrument in order to participate in the public dialogue and implement "constitutional justice" in a concrete case.
