ENThis book has five main chapters: 1) characteristics of terms and requirements for terms (concepts „terminas“ (term), „terminija“ (terminology as a whole complex of terms of a certain field), „terminologija“ (terminology as a science), typology of terms, extension, intension, the grammar of terms, pragmatics, regularity, accuracy, systematicality, shortness, stylistic neutrality, convenience of formation); 2) sources of terminology (terminologisation of Lithuanian words, creation of neologisms, borrowing of terms); 3) ways of regulating terminology (terminography, standardization of terms, computerised databases of terms and editing of terms in various texts); 4) principles of creation and standardization of terms (general principles of the normalization of terms, special principles and rules of creation and normalization of terms); 5) trends, schools and the most famous terminologists (the terminological theories of E. Wüsterand H. Felber, S. Šalkauskis, D. Lotte and T. Kandelaki, V. Danilenko and others). Propositions in the book are mainly illustrated with Lithuanian language examples. They were taken not only from dictionaries of temis, but also from scientific writings and university textbooks. [From the publication]
