LTMonografijoje, remiantis oficialaus, privataus ir viešojo pobūdžio rankraštiniais bei publikuotais šaltiniais ir naujausia istoriografija, atskleidžiama Vilniaus vaivadijos seimelio funkcionavimo specifika 1717-1795 m. laikotarpiu. Tyrime bajoriškosios savivaldos ir parlamentarizmo koreliacijos kontekste atskleidžiama centrinio Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystėje Vilniaus vaivadijos seimelio administracinių ir reprezentacinių funkcijų pobūdis, sesijų sušaukimo laikas ir vieta, sprendimų priėmimų ir vadovavimo seimelio posėdžiams praktika, ryškiausios institucionalizacijos tendencijos, išryškinamas tarpinstitucinis veiklos fonas - sąsajos su įvairaus lygmens LDK valstybinėmis bei centrinėmis Abiejų Tautų Respublikos institucijomis.

ENThe object of the monograph is the specific nature of functioning of the Vilnius dietine as a local noble self-government and lowest-level parliamentary institution as well as the central institution in the context of analogous institutions and its ties with other principal public institutions. The research seeks not only to reveal the limits of the competence of the Vilnius dietine and the range of problems it considered but also to show the interinstitutional interaction. It is obvious that the object of the research, namely the activities of a local institution, is not very broad but to reveal the main development tendencies and the prime institutionalisation processes, it is presented in a broader chronological context of the 18th century. The major aim of the monograph is to reveal the specific nature of functioning of the central dietine of the GDL, the Vilnius dietine, i.e. the nature of administrative and representational functions, the practice of decision-making and chairing of dietine meetings, the most prominent processes of institutionalisation, as well as to highlight the interinstitutional background of its activities - ties with the central public institutions of the Commonwealth and the GDL of different levels. The following objectives were set in order to achieve the main aim of the research: 1) to establish the location of the meetings of the Vilnius dietine as well as the time and duration of sessions; 2) to determine the limits of the dietines competence and to reveal the range of political and socioeconomic problems that were discussed; 3) to trace the correlation boundaries of parliamentarism and self-government in the activities of the Vilnius dietine; 4) to reveal the practice of chairing dietine meetings, voting and decision-making; 5) to reveal the role of the Vilnius dietine and the nature and scale of its ties with other central public institutions as well as the forms of interinstitutional communication.6) to establish the number and composition of the Vilnius dietine envoys at the Commonwealth diet (Lith. seimas, Pol. sejm) and deputies at the tribunals of the GDL (supreme and ecclesiastical) as well as the specific nature of their activities. The research chronological limits-1717-1795 - frame a heterogeneous period of 78 years and basically de facto encompass the greater part of the 18th century. Though the selected points frame a much shorter period than the earlier examples of monographic research on the activities of the GDL dietines, it was taken into account that with broader chronological limits combining different epochs and political processes, the research would be even more complicated. By taking into consideration the tendencies of periodization of development of the 18th century noble parliamentarism and self-government of the Commonwealth and their correlation possibilities, two fundamental, practically even, periods are distinguished in the monograph: 1717-1763 and 1764-1795. This periodization is kept in mind when analysing the factographic material and revealing the specific nature of the activities of the Vilnius dietine during certain periods.
