Summary / Abstract:

ENThe present paper analyses the influence of separate components of movement, such as posture, coordination functions, and movements of the body on speech production - the state of the articulatory apparatus, coordination of its movements, articulation of sounds and words in pre-school children with language development disorders due to dysarthria and alalia. The hypothesis is that the above-mentioned movement components can influence the state of articulatory apparatus, coordination of its movements and linguistic articulation in pre-school children with language disorders. The method of testing was applied to establish the development of general movements and linguistic movements (articulation) in pre-school children suffering from dysarthria and alalia followed by correlation analysis carried out to ascertain the influence of separate components of general body movement on separate components of articulation. 100 pre-school children aged from 4 to 7 suffering from dysarthria and alalia took part in the research. In the empirical part, the correlation between body posture, coordination functions and functions of the movements of the body, the state of the articulatory apparatus, coordination of its movements, articulation and age were investigated. The most important conclusions of the empirical research are as follows.1. The evaluation of body posture, coordination functions, functions of the movements of the body in pre-school children with language disorders revealed the following: the investigated functions of the movements of the body are mastered best; however, there are also about 20% of different divergences from the correct posture, while the coordination of movements is developed least; the movements of the body that are connected with the development of balance are developed best at this age. 2. After the evaluation of the state of the articulatory apparatus, coordination of its movements and articulation, the following was established: the state of the articulatory apparatus is the most developed one and the coordination of movements of the articulation apparatus and articulation of sounds and words is developed on the average level (correspondingly 60% and 65%); at this period of age the coordination of articulation movements and linguistic articulation is developing most. 3. After the analysis of correlation of general and linguistic movements it was established that the hypothesis has been proved only partly, i.e. the development of balance has the strongest influence over articulation movements, articulation of sounds and words from all the components of general movement at the pre-school age; the coordination of movements (both arms and legs) has slightly less influence, its influence over the state of articulation apparatus is weakest. At this age, the posture of the body does not influence articulation at all. [From the publication]
