ENProf. Stanisław Kościałkowski was, between 1942 and 1949, the organizer and manager of several Polish scientific institutions and one university in Iran and Lebanon. They operated according to the model of scientific institutes in Vilnius, conducted scientific research, gathered source materials, created libraries, issued periodicals and scientific publications, educated students. They were liquidated following the departure of Poles from Lebanon at the end of the 1940s. The presence of these institutions allowed Kościałkowski to continue his own scientific research interrupted in 1939. At every stage of his scientific and political activity, Prof. Kościałkowski could count on the assistance of former colleagues from the Stefan Batory University in Vilnius, who were forced to emigrate.
