ENThe reform of Lithuanian education system was started since early 1990s when Lithuania regained independence as the first republic which broke free from the USSR. The concept of Lithuanian education has been to define the principle of humanity, which stresses the importance of values of human freedom, responsibility and creativity in a person's self-creating process. The characteristics of mathematics education in the context of paradigm alterations and the factors of humanisation of teaching and learning mathematics in lower secondary school had been analysed by performing the scientific researches since 1996. The purpose of study is to define the development opportunities of humanisation of teaching and learning mathematics in 5th–10th forms through modelling the results of researches. The theoretical model of humanisation of teaching and learning mathematics in lower secondary school was created and the guidelines of development of humanisation were provided in practical aspect.
