ENThe article deals with the use of the project method for the development of subject and core competencies. It explains the concept of this learning method and shares experience about possibilities to apply this method for teaching Contemporary Lithuanian. The project method is linked to the active development of subject and core competencies. The aim of the article is to discuss possibilities to use the project method for the development of subject and core competencies. The project method can be useful for the purpose of teaching Contemporary Lithuanian. Teaching experience shows that this methods makes students more active. When we choose to apply the project method, it is necessary to accurately plan the work and think over the main steps of project preparation, namely initiation and start of the project, project planning, project implementation and project report. The project method gives an opportunity to develop subject competencies by relating theory with practice, as well as core competencies. [From the publication]
