ENThe article presents dog registration tags in Lithuania. The aim of dog registration was a campaign against stray dogs and the spread of rabies. The first dog registration tags in Lithuania were introduced in Vilnius at the turn of the nineteenth to the twentieth century. General dog registration was first introduced in Lithuania in the period of German occupation in 1916-1918. After the reestablishment of independent Lithuania, the first dog registration tags appeared in Kaunas in 1922. In 1929, by the order of the minister of home affairs, there was an unsuccessful attempt to introduce general registration of dogs held in Lithuania from 1930. Another attempt was made in 1935, but only separate cities or counties managed to implement it. In 1939, when the capital Vilnius was returned to Lithuania, Lithuanian dog registration tags were introduced there as well in 1940-1941. [From the publication]
