LTStraipsnyje analizuojama Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės ir vokiečių Ordino sienų samprata bei delimitaciniai procesai XIII-XVI a. XIII a. Vokiečių ordinas nekėlė tikslo tartis dėl sienų su Lietuva, nes šią norėta nukariauti. Visgi diegiant administraciją buvo nustatomos teritorinių vienetų ribos ir braižmos kai kurios gairės su Lietuva, nes jų aprašuose pasitaiko krypčių „link Lietuvos“ paminėjimai. Lietuvos didžiojo kunigaikščio Gedimino 1338 m. tarpvalstybinėje sutartyje su Ordino magistru Livonijoje fiksuoti pirmi valstybės teritorijos ruožų aprašai. Panašios realijos liudijamos 1367 ir 1379 m. sutartyse. 1382 m. Dubysos sutartimi Jogaila dovanojo Ordinui žemaičius iki Dubysos upės, kuri žymėjo šalių ribą. Taip pamažu ryškėjo politinių LDK sienų idėja. 1398 m. Salyno ir 1422 m. Melno amžinosios taikos sutartyse tarp LDK ir Ordino pirmą kartą fiksuoti sienų aprašai. Tai buvo kokybiškai naujas etapas LDK sienų sampratoje ir reiškė valstybės teritorijos idėjos atsiradimą. Tačiau 1422 m. susitarimas LDK sienų raidoje „taško“ nepadėjo. Šios sienos daugelyje ruožų driekėsi per dykras. Ilgainiui vidinės kolonizacijos sklaida jas pasiekė ir „stūmė“, dėl to ankstesni teritoriniai sprendimai buvo peržiūrimi ir „tikslinami“. LDK ir Prūsijos bei Livonijos sienų raidoje XV a. antroje pusėje formavosi apgyvendinti pasieniai, dėl to kildavo ginčai dėl sienų pažeidimų. Taip pat ir XVI a. sienų taisymas ir derinimas buvo politinio gyvenimo kasdienybė.

ENThe article analyses the concept of the borders between the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Teutonic Order as well as delimitation processes during the 13th and 16th centuries. In the 13th century, the Teutonic Order did not raise the question regarding borders with Lithuania because they wanted to destroy it. However, during the establishment of the administration, the borders of territorial units were determined and some guidelines with Lithuania were drawn; some descriptions include directions "towards Lithuania". In the cross-border agreement of 1338 between Gediminas, Grand Duke of Lithuania, and the Master of the Teutonic Order in Livonia, first descriptions of the state territory were recorded. Similar realities were indicated in the agreements of the year of 1367 and 1379. Jogaila granted Samogitia up to the Dubysa river to the Order in 1382 with the Treaty of Dubysa which marked the border of the countries. This was the beginning of political border concept of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Border descriptions were recorded for the first time in the peace Treaty of Salynas in 1398 and the Treaty of Melno in 1422 between the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Order. This was the new stage in the concept of borders of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and it meant the rise of state territory idea. However, the agreement in 1422 did not end the development of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania borders. These borders were located along the abandoned lands. Over time, the development of internal colonialism reached those borders and "pushed" them; therefore, previous territorial solutions were reviewed and specified. The development of populated borders between the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Prussia and Livonia was taking place in the second half of the 15th century; therefore, there were disputes regarding border offences. Moreover, the adjustment and correction of borders in the 16th century was the reality of a political life.
