Eglė žalčių karalienė : slibino ir mergelės motyvo kilmė

LTStraipsnyje siūlomas slibino ir mergelės motyvo kilmės aiškinimas remiantis „Eglės žalčių karalienės“ siužeto transformacijomis tuose pasakos variantuose, kuriuose prarasta teigiama antgamtinės būtybės („žalčio“) traktuotė. Nužymimos dvi šio neįprasto siužeto vystymosi (ir eliminavimo) kryptys, bandant jį transformuoti pagal kitų pasakų analogijas. Perinterpretavimas remiasi dviem kartojamais ritualais, žyminčiais moters patekimą į antgamtinės būtybės valdas ir sugrįžimą iš ten. Formalus apeigų sutapimas leidžia kelti prielaidą apie bendrą jų ištaką – ankstesnį ritualą. Jo eksplikacija – atitinkamas mitinis pasakojimas – dalija pirminį ritualą į du, sudarydamas galimybę atsirasti pasakai-mitui „Eglė žalčių karalienė“. Pagrindinis dėmesys straipsnyje telkiamas į moters ir antgamtinės būtybės („žalčio“) ryšį ir iš vyrų („brolių“) pusės kylantį ketinimą jį nutraukti. Taip ir atsiranda kovos su žalčiu-slibinu motyvas. Apžvelgiamas jo išplitimas Europos (daugiausia graikų ir krikščionybės) mitologijose. Jų kontekste išryškėja „Eglės žalčių karalienės“ savitumas. Transformacijos, perinterpretavimai ne tik papildo finalinės žalčio žudymo scenos reikšmę, bet leidžia hipotetiškai rekonstruoti ne tik šio, bet ir kai kurių kitų Europoje paplitusių motyvų genezę. ENThis article offers an explanation to the origin of the motif of dragon and maiden. At the centre of attention – variations of the story “Eglė žalčių karalienė” (Eglė, the Queen of Serpents), where the supernatural creature (a grass snake, serpent) is treated negatively. A couple development trends of this unusual storyline are notable – the interpretation of two rituals, referring to a woman’s access to a supernatural being’s dominion and return from there, is changing. It is presumed that they had common roots – an earlier ritual, the explication of which is a respective mythical story – which enabled the appearance of the storymyth “Eglė, the Queen of Serpents”. The main attention in the article is focused on the link between a woman and a supernatural being (“serpent”), as well as the attempts of men (“brothers”) to separate them. This is how the motif of the battle with the serpent-dragon appeared. Its spread throughout the mythologies of Europe is overviewed (mostly in Greek and Christian mythology), within the context of which the singularity of “Eglė, the Queen of Serpents” is highlighted. The story’s transformation, reinterpretation allows us to hypothetically reconstruct the genesis of some of the other motifs widespread throughout Europe. [From the publication]
