"Krašto" samprata lietuvių kalboje

LTTyrimo objektas – „krašto“ samprata. Straipsnio tikslas – nustatyti, kaip žmonių sąmonėje struktūruojama erdvė, kaip suprantama, kas yra sava vieta ir kuo ji ypatinga. Pasitelkus Lietuvių kalbos žodyną (LKŽ) tiriama žodžio „kraštas“ ir jam artimų žodžių – „šalis“, „šonas“, „galas“ – semantika. O Lietuvių vietovardžių kartotekoje aiškinamasi, kaip šie žodžiai vartojami vietovardžiuose. „Kraštas“ lietuvių pasaulėžiūroje yra suvokiamas kaip kompaktiška, kultūriniu ir gamtiniu požiūriu vientisa ir savita teritorija. Vieno „krašto“ gyventojus sieja kalba, papročiai, elgsena ir kiti kultūriniai bruožai. Vietovės ypatumus atskleidžia pavadinimai, kilę iš žemėnaudos terminijos. Prasminiai žodžiai. ENKraštas (land) is a small territory, homogenous in terms of culture and nature. In the dictionary of the Lithuanian language, several meaning groups can be identified for the words kraštas, šalis, šonas, galas (land, country, side, end): side (1), location near something (2), direction (3), frontier (distant location) (4), shore (5), edge (boundary) (6), piece (part) (7), a territorial unit (8), population (9), family (10), attitude (10). Of the usage examples for the provided words it is clear that the main distinctive feature for the word kraštas is not its territory, but rather the population, their customs, cultural identity. The article also discusses the place names that are made with forms of the words šalis, galas, kampas (country, end, corner). Place names with the word šalis are rare and relatively new. Derivatives of galas are the oldest, going back to sources from the 13th c.; they are evenly distributed over the northern part of Lithuania. Some of them indicate an independent object while others - a small part at the edge of a larger territory. Place names with derivatives of -kamp are widespread in south-eastern Lithuania, along the border with Belarus, and are also rather new, related to the Wallach reform. [From the publication]
