ENJūratė Trinkūnienė and Regina Giedrienė discuss in the article the issue of the functions of a special pedagogue in an ordinary school. The authors claim that part of the work of special pedagogues in ordinary schools is taken by organizational functions related to the activity of special education committees. The applied forms of the special pedagogue with children with special needs include trainings: individual, group, sub-group trainings. The special pedagogue lacks time for this work. The results of the research show that the priorities of special pedagogues and those teaching subjects differ when they value the functions provided for in job description of special pedagogue. The expectations of the pedagogues do not meet those of the special pedagogues. During active communication and cooperation between special pedagogues and subject teachers it is important to organize work in a way that everyone would feel equal members of the team working towards the set goals together. Special pedagogues are not parent-oriented enough, thus they limit parent participation, possibilities of cooperation and its efficiency themselves. [From the publication]
