ENYan Liebiedz's Kitab (a second half 18-century manuscript in Belarusian language employing Arabic alphabet) contains mostly religious texts, which resulted in wide use confessional nominations. The analysis of the lexical contents of the manuscript revealed that the designation of religious terms and concepts of Islam in the first place is the vocabulary of oriental origin. The borrowed lexemes can be divided into the following lexical-semantic groups: 1) the name of religious concepts, 2) the name of clergymen as well as people depending on their attitude to Islam, 3) the names of transcriptions of records of religious texts and their parts, 4) the name of rituals and prayers, 5) the name of religious taxes, offerings, 6) the name оf cult buildings, 7) cosmogonic names. Multi-confession of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania caused the penetration of terms from other religions to the Tatar texts. Thanks to that in the manuscript there appeared the nominations of Slavic and Eastern origin and some words changed its construction under the influence of the Slavic word-formation rules. However, in greater part of the manuscript there are used oriental lexemes, because Slavic languages had lexical equivalents to the terms of Muslim religion. [From the publication]
