LTTauta, tautybė - tai kategorijos, kurios sovietinio režimo ideologijoje atliko svarbų vaidmenį. Šiomis sąvokomis manipuliuota tiek ideologijos sferoje, kai tarybinės konstitucijos garantavo „tautų lygiateisiškumą“, tiek ir praktiškai sprendžiant reikalus, pav., leidžiant veikti tautinėms mokykloms gimtąja kalba. Tokia politika buvo taikyta ir Lietuvoje, prijungus ją prie TSSR 1940 m., ir 1944-1990 m. Lietuvos okupacijos metu. Sovietinė tautinė politika Lietuvoje priklausė nuo vyraujančių Rusijoje tendencijų, atsižvelgiant taip pat į vietinės padėties specifiką, bet visuomet svarbiausiu sovietinės tautinės politikos tikslu buvo laikomas kuo geriausias režimo funkcionavimas, o ne vienos ar kitos tautos gėris. ENNation and nationality were the key categories in the ideology of the Soviet regime. They were, however, subject to the ideological manipulation: Soviet constitutions recognized “equality and sovereignty of all the peoples", granting for example groups of ethnic minorities access to educational provisions in their languages. This line of politics of national minorities was first implemented at the time of Lithuania’s annexation in 1940, and during the so-called second Soviet occupation of Lithuania, from 1944 to 1990. The Soviet nationalities policy in Lithuania depended on the political trends exercised in Moscow. However, the implemented policies towards the political minorities never remained beneficial for one of the ethnic groups living in the area. By and large, their aim was to ensure the smooth running of the regime. [From the publication]
