ENAcademic language texts are multilingual, due on the one hand to the globalisation of science, the citing tradition and the need for unified academic language, and on the other hand to striving for the retention of academic language as a functional variety of national languages. The present article is based on the analysis of the purpose and usage of different languages in German and Lithuanian publications in linguistics. The research has revealed that the texts in linguistics incorporate paratexts, citations, terms and instances of language use as well as titles of conferences, projects and software programmes. Since multilingual insertions are used diversily in German and Lithuanian publications, it can be claimed that national styles of multilingualism in academic texts do exist. [From the publication]
