ENThe article is the attempt at taking note of important role of biographical studies concerning history and culture of Polish and Lithuanian Tatar people. The author describes history of Tatar biographical studies from the beginning of the XIXth century to present days. In his opinion the reseach of this discipline is not sufficient, so in this case interdisciplinary attitude towards biographical Tatar studies are very important especially for the Polish Tatar. In addition there are not too many researchers who are interested in this discipline of historiography today. However a lot of biograms and biographies of famous Tatar have been published recently in Życie Tatarskie and Rocznik Tatarów Polskich. Biographical Tatar studies is a very important element for popularization of well known and famous individuals because their accomplishments are very influential for world cultural heritage.
