ENAt the end of 2012, a research team formed at Jan Kochanowski Uniwersity in Kielce was granted a project within the National Programme for the Development of Humanities - Module 1 (Contract No. 0083 / NPRH2 / HI 1 /81/2012) by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The aim of the project is to document memoirs and collections of letters written by Polish authors from the Taken Lands (Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine) in the period 1795-1918. The team, led by the author of this text, consists of historians from several Polish and foreign research centres. The project involves archival and library research in Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, France, England and Poland, with the goal of finding and cataloguing all memoirs and collections of letters written by Polish authors. The results of this research will be published in a separate catalogue. Provided there are enough financial resources, part of the memoirs and letters will be published as a series. The characteristics of the National Programme for the Development of Humanities: Memoirs and letters of Polish authors from the Taken Lands (Western Krai) presented in this article summarises the research results and discusses the main current research directions of our team. It is also an excellent opportunity to provide further research perspectives and demand. [From the publication]
