Nowe dane o litewskich pieczęciach państwowych Zygmunta III Wazy

LTZigmanto Vazos laikų Lietuvos valstybės antspaudai, ypač didieji, užima išskirtinę vietą. Juose greičiausiai kanclerio Leono Sapiegos iniciatyva aplinkt valstybės herbą buvo pavaizduota 12 žemių, dinastijų ir kitų herbų. Per juos siekta įprasminti Lietuvos Didžiąją Kunigaikštystę kaip lygiavertį partnerį jungtinėje Abiejų Tautų Respublikoje, be to, aiškiai pareikšta pretenzijų į žemes, Liublino unijos išvakarėse atitekusias Lenkijos Karalystei. Į didįjį antspaudą sugrįžo skydininkai, valstybės herbą didžiajame antspaude papuošė didžioji, o mažajame – mažoji kunigaikštiška karūna. Tyrimų metu surasti du seniausieji antspaudai, didysis ir mažasis. Pirmasis didysis antspaudas atsirado 1589 m., o ne 1588 m., kaip iki tol tvirtinta literatūroje. Po metų jį, turbūt dėl perdėm didelio skersmens (95 mm) ir žemių heraldikos klaidų, pakeitė kitas mažesnis antspaudas. Abiejų spaudus galėjo išraižyti Vilniaus auksakalys Johanas (Hanusius) Dyla Savičius. Pirmasis mažasis antspaudas, atsiradęs 1588 m. sausio mėn. pabaigoje, po kelių dienų dėl dinastinės heraldikos netikslumų buvo pakeistas kitu su pataisyta heraldika. ENState seals of the time of Sigismund Vasa, especially the large ones, occupy an exceptional place. Most likely, on the initiative of the Chancellor Leo Sapieha, 12 lands, and dynasties and other emblems were represented around the state emblem. It was sought through them to give a meaning to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania as an equal partner in the united Republic of the Two Nations; besides, claims were clearly made to the lands, which were given to the Kingdom of Poland on the eve of the Lublin Union. Shield men returned to the large emblem, the state emblem in the large seal was adorned with the Great Ducal Crown and in the small seal – the small Ducal Crown. During the investigations two old seals, the large and the small ones were found. The first Large Seal appeared in 1589 rather than in 1588 as had been stated in literature before. A year later, perhaps due to too large a diameter (95 mm) and mistakes in land heraldry, it was replaced with a smaller seal. The Vilnius goldsmith Johan (Hanusius) Dyla Savičius could have engraved both seals. The first smaller seal, which appeared at the end of January 1588, following several days due to inaccuracies of dynastic heraldry was replaced with corrected heraldry.
