Oddziały autoramentu cudzoziemskiego w Prusach Królewskich i Warmii w dobie wojny z Moskwą za panowania Zygmunta III Wazy (1609-1618)

LTSustiprinti Lenkijos Karalystės kariuomenę samdiniais iš užsienio, visų pirma, pėstininkais, ruošiantis karui su Maskva ir tam karui 1609–1618 m. vykstant nebuvo nauja idėja. Ją ankstesniais laikais sėkmingai naudojo Steponas Batoras. Kariaudamas su Maskva 1609–1618 m. Zigmantas III Vaza taip pat panaudojo pėstininkų dalinius, kurie iš pradžių buvo surenkami Karališkuose Prūsuose. Kadangi šie daliniai prieš pakliūdami į LDK teritoriją karinei ekspedicijai Smolensko link turėjo pereiti Varmijos regioną, o tas neapsieidavo be plėšikavimų ir prievartos prieš vietinius gyventojus, tai liko užfiksuota istorijos šaltiniuose. Būtent jais remiantis, o konkrečiai Varmijos vyskupo korespondencija, išlikusia archyve Olštyne ir Krokuvoje, ir parašytas šis straipsnis, kurio tikslas atskleisti užsienio samdinių veiksmus, sukėlusius problemų, o taip pat nustatyti tautinę samdinių sudėtį. Kaip pavyko nustatyti, tuose užsieniečių daliniuose tarnavo ne tik vokiečiai (iš Prūsijos, Livonijos ir kitų žemių), bet ir anglai, škotai, airiai. Nors užsieniečiai karine prasme sudarė nemenką Lenkijos karaliaus kariuomenės dalį kare su Maskva, tačiau už tai reikėjo mokėti didelę kainą ne tik tiesiogine prasme, bet ir nemažais materialiniais nuostoliais bei įvaryta baime Varmijos gyventojams, kurie turėjo pakelti užsienio kareivių savivaliavimą, plėšikavimus ir t. t. ENDuring the War with Moscow between 1609-1618, Prussia became an area heavily concentrated with foreign military forces which served the Polish king. In 1609 an infantry regiment led by Jan Weyher, mostly made up of Scots and Englishmen stationed there. The rush which accompanied Zygmunt III Waza’s expedition to Smolensk rebounded on the preparations of the German infantry. Due to the prolonged absence of the commanding staff including the colonels, as well as lack of money for payment, the soldiers stationed in the area have wronged many civilians, and forced upon them many, injustices which were uncalled and not allowed for at the time. Three years later, those same provinces accumulated regiments led by Dietrich Denhoff and Christoph Bernard von Ursemberg. However, this time the King made arrangements and formed a three person commission which was supposed to oversee the military stationed in the land. However this solution did not pass the test. Once again the treasury ran out of money and the soldiers, mostly Germans, took it out on the people of the provinces and the Crown lands as well. A lot less information exists regarding the foreign military autorament in the Prussian lands during 1617-1618, but based on the sources it is safe to assume that the king made multiple attempts at overseeing the regiments, which stationed Germans, Scotts and Irishmen. Despite supervision from Jan Weyher, who at the time was the governor of Chełmno, soldiers once again caused a significant amount of damage to residents, whose lands they crossed during their marches towards the east. The described events were not uncommon to those in western Europe, and were an excellent example of how the administration was unable to control the military and keep them from damaging property and robbing civiians.
