ENThe article presents the activities of the Seminary of Seinai and Vilkaviškis in Gižai. The Polish-Lithuanian armed conflict forced the relocation of the Seminary from Poland to Lithuania. At the beginning, the Seminary was placed in Zypliai, and then moved to Gižai. The location was changed in search of a better, bigger and more suitable place. There were eminent Lithuanian professors, such as Vincentas Vizgirda, Vincentas Borisevičius, Jonas Naujokas, Juozapas Stankevičius, Augustinas Neverauskas, Mykolas Ražaitis, Feliksas Bartkus, Juozas Barkauskas, Antanas Dailidė, Pijus Aleksa, and Ignas Požėla, who worked and taught at the Seminary. Vincentas Vizgirda fought for the rights of the believers during the Soviet occupation. Vincentas Borisevičius rescued a lot of people from the Holocaust during the German occupation. The activities of the graduates of the Seminary had a huge impact on the Christian community in Lithuania and abroad. V Balsys and J. Dabrila strengthened Christian faith and Lithuanian national traditions. P. Brazauskas became a famous artist whose works of religious art decorate churches in Lithuania and the United States.A. Maceina did not become a priest, but one of the most prominent Lithuanian philosophers. The graduates of the Seminary, who emigrated from Lithuania, continued their mission and worked for the Lithuanian emigrants maintaining their spirits and encouraging solidarity. V Brizgys worked for the Lithuanian communities in the United States, Canada and Australia strengthening their faith and national identity. The premises of the seminary were converted into a school during the Soviet occupation, and destroyed in 1989. The seminary in Gižai remains only in the memoirs of the local residents who are proud that their hometown had the seminary. These memories encouraged the believers to fight for their rights during the Soviet period. [From the publication]
