ENThe Clavis Germanico-Lithvana is generally ascribed to Friedrich Praetorius the Elder. This goes back to Lepner (1744, 133), who calls Praetorius the author of a German-Lithuanian dictionary, based on Agricola’s Bible concordance. By comparing the dictionary with other hand-written ones three parts have been made out in the basic layer of the Clavis. But Lepner’s characterization applies only to the last part. The other parts are compilations of the alleged Praetorius’ dictionary and other dictionaries. This fact along with contradictions in its dating give reason to question Praetorius’ authorship of the Clavis. [From the publication]
