ENThe duty of culture is to revive what is forgotten and what is being forgotten. I am talking about the mind, morals and great values, and looking for a man whose life could tell us about the unity of mind and morals searches. After all, human dignity is a whole, in which existence and mode of life, the existence of his individuality and community citizen among other people are flourishing nicely On the realms of existence depends not only the way of human development or regression, but also the constant renewal. It is an important component of the quality of human life. The author of several articles investigates the research topic in order to answer the questions: what kind of paradigm of human dignity over time determined the Jewish community in the regional town having the cultural heritage of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania to become the active one; what kind of community it was; what well-known persons made the community and the town famous. The problem is that today the community remained small. Wars, Soviet times and emigration had significant influence on it. However, being far away from Panevėžys region which they called their native land, the Jews did not stop loving it. The aim of the article is to investigate the peculiarities of Jewish life in Panevėžys, the features of their dignity in society actualization searches.The author has set objectives: to highlight some general aspects of Jewish history, also reflecting in Panevėžys Jewish community life; to restore the fragments of their life in the town from authentic memories of Jewish life; to give biographical moments of some persons' life in Panevėžys. Man is like the horizon. However much you try to reach it, it will recede from you, and will remain fully unrecognized. Man is a being created living being: nature only gives the basics, and later he is formed by "teeming heap" of different values - culture: all of them - a Lithuanian, a Jew, a German, or a Russian. The existence is being torn between the abundance and diversity of values. The biggest problem is to select those values which above all false paths in the world would lead a man to enlightenment and help him to know himself and the others: from being toward formation. The article refers to the Jews who went to South Africa, and gives authentic stories. It emphasizes the importance of Jewish memories of Lithuania - as their homeland, and the Lithuanian spirit. There is available statistics, examples of Lithuanian Jewish lands memory revival in their residential areas, Jewish population statistics, and business types. From the authentic reminiscences there were restored facts of Jewish life in the town of Panevėžys. There is also mentioned a number of names of Panevėžys students and teachers, and marked the killed in the Holocaust. Unpublished photos complement the material.
