ENThe right-handed comprise the vast majority of adult population. Perhaps it was the reason why left- handedness was accepted as aberrance or abnormality. There are a lot of restrictions concerning the left hand and the left-handed. Values about the left and the right came to be expressed in language. To be „dextrous“ was to be skilful, just, fair, straight, true, direct and honest, to be „sinister“ was to be the negation of all these qualities. However today views about using the left hand are liberal. Lefthanders still remain a „sinful minority“. Like many other minority groups it has been subject to prejudice, humiliation and discrimination. The works in handedness revolve around several basic questions. One of the most important of these questions is the effect of handedness on individual differences. A vast amount of research has investigated what it means for an individual to favour one side of the body, particularly the hand. But the results are far from creating a coherent picture. One of the most common approaches assumes that left-handedness is a sign of some deficit. [...] This work extends the works where psychological characteristics of left-handed are explained by pressure of dextrous environment and negative attitudes toward left-handedness. The main assumption of this work was that some negative aspects of left-handedness were conditioned by individual reactions to environmental influence. [From the publication]
