ENThe article analyses the interaction and peculiarities of vocational ambitions and possibilities of persons with mild learning difficulties. It tries to answer the questions regarding the preferences of educational methods for the content of educational activity and professional expectations. The hypothesis is that a suitable choice of educational strategy and methods enables to achieve positive progress, forming professional and vital expectations of persons with mild learning difficulties. The method was created, considering the requirements for the study of action. The study was -carried out during the academic years 1995-1998 at the Rehabilitation Vocational Training Centre of Lithuania (LRVTC). Data analysis is based on the method of content analysis. The data of this study have been processed in accordance with the predefined scheme. Frequency rating of categories was identified. If some category was characterised by high rating, it was concluded that these expectations and wishes of the investigated were dominating. If the category was characterised by average or low rating, it was assumed that in case of subjective evaluation these expectations or wishes of the respondents were not dominating. In any case high rating relatively diagnoses the significance and topicality of wishes and expectations of persons with mild learning difficulties.The results of the survey showed that educational impact in the process of formation of vocational - vital expectations of the trainees of LRVTC was evident. This is proved by the changes in the students’ expectations: whilst dominating wishes in the statements of the first year trainees were involvement in the publicly acknowledged work, the statements of the second and the third year trainees revealed a more specific perception of their profession and determination to work according to the speciality, acquired at the Centre. The second and the third year trainees imagined their possibilities more realistically in terms of salary. The statements of the latter under the empirical category „unrealistic income“ in terms of the intensiveness are non-comparable to the statements of the first year trainees, which reflected fantastic sums. Teachers successfully reached positive results, developing the trainees’ actual expectations, related to material life conditions. The trainees learned to plan their leisure time.
