ENThe article intends to commemorate the 130th anniversary of Mečislovas Reinys' birth and 60th anniversary of his martyrdom. It examines Archbishop's academic activity in the light of Christian anthropology of his study 'The Problem of Racism'. The aspects and context of education spirituality are highlighted. Mečislovas Reinys was born in 1884 in Utena, Daugailiai parish, Madagascar village. From very young age he was apt to education. Being the youngest child in the family, Mečislovas was sent to school. He finished Daugailiai Primary School, Mūrinė Ašmena School and Ryga Gynmasium. In 1901 he entered Vilnius Seminary, and in 1905 he was sent to study in Saint Petersburg Theological Academy. Mečislovas Reinys was ordained on 10 June 1907. In 1909 he entered the Institute of Philosophy at Leuven University in Belgium, whereas in 1913-1914 he deepened his knowledge of apologetics as a student of professor Albert Lang at the Faculty of Theology, University of Strasbourg. Having returned to Lithuania, the priest attempted to implement the acquired knowledge. Therefore, he allotted great attention о the development of the younger generation and the formation of a young person's personality. He worked as an educator from 1915 to 1940. He started as a gymnasium chaplain and developed into the position of a university professor. However, even being the Archbishop of Vilnius, he did not resign of teaching. The activity of Archbishop Mečislovas Reinys is diverse: the academic and pastoral activities are closely interrelated. The centre and goal of his pastoral-teaching activity was a human. This is reflected in his scientific study "The Problem of Racism', in which the pastor views a human being in the light of the contemporaneous achievements of science and technology. Anthropological direction can be observed in his pastoral activity: he propagated life culture and saw the future of the humanity only in the moral and educated person. Therefore, it is possible to say that Reinys was able to read the signs of time and draw topical and prophetic insights, which were later developed by the teaching of the last Popes and Second Vatical Council. His work also reveals an aspect of education spirituality and traces of Christian anthropology. The study "The Problem of Racism' makes a special emphasis on humanity: the main subject of thought, which is developed in the whole academic and publicist work. Archbishop had a good awareness of different branches of science and Church documents. He did not only criticize nationalism, bolshevism and all other infidel ideologies, but also promoted and consolidated main laws of Christian anthropology. According to Archbishop Reinys, one of the main goals of writing the study was his desire to help a human being to make a choice. Archbishop Mečislovas Reinys saw the future of a nation in a moral and educated personality; therefore, he spared no effort and wisdom to educate the society. He understood progress of human development in the spread of spirituality. [From the publication]
