ENThe article analyses a processional little altar with double-sided painting in Geidžiai chapel, which was restored in 2013 and at the moment is stored in the Samogitian museum “Alka”. The article also discusses an investigation and restoration process of the double-sided painting of the processional little altar. A double-sided painting of a poor condition was investigated with the help of ultraviolet and infraded rays. Furthermore, microchemical and instrumental painting analysis was carried out, as well as the microbiological research. The restoration process embraced smoothing of deformed and calloused canvas, agglutination of tears and reinforcement of the painting layer. The painting canvas was stretched on the sub frame. The old profiled frame strips were used for the sub frame in order to retain authentic retabulo parts. The losses of painting were inserted with a restorational painters’ filling and a retouched watercolour. The painting was covered with a safety covering and returned to the museum exhibition.
