ENThe most important aim of the life of Count Tyszkiewicz was to collect and preserve the historical heritage of Lithuania for future generations. For that purpose he collected archaeological material, and opened a private museum in his house in Vilnius, whose collections served as a basis for the founding of the Vilnius Museum of Antiquities and a scholarly institution - Vilnius Temporary Archaeological Commission. However, it was much earlier that Tyszkiewicz started carrying out archaeological research and establishing relations with various local and international scholars, among them - with the scholarly community of Krakow. This direction of Tyszkiewicz's scholarly interests has so far not received sufficient research attention. The aim of the present paper is to establish Tyszkiewicz's relations with researchers based in Krakow. Most of the references to these relations can be found in the collections of the Scientific Archive of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Archiwum Nauki Polskiej Akademii Nauk i Polskiej Akademii Umiejętności w Krakowie), where the minutes of the sessions of the Krakow Scientific Society (Towarzystwo naukowe Krakowskie) are held. Tyszkiewicz is often mentioned in these documents, which also contain some information about the exhibits given by the count to the Art and Archaeology Department of the Krakow Scientific Society. The archive also holds letters, in which various scholars write both about Tyszkiewicz and the books that he donated. Quite a lot of material related with Tyszkiewicz is held in the Jagiellonian Library. A bundle of his letters and autographs have been found in the Manuscript Department, and some autographed books donated by this scholar are held in the library's general collection. Some material has been found in the Library of the Polish Academy of Sciences. It should be acknowledged that according to the primary data of research, Tyszkiewicz's heritage held in the archives and manuscript depositories of Krakow might not appear very rich. However, it is expected that even this material will help to reveal probably yet unknown features of Tyszkiewicz's activity or supplement the existing studies. [From the publication]
