ENThis article discusses the expression of atheism in Lithuania. In order to understand the position of disbelief, features of the process of becoming atheist and atheists relationship with the society, semi-structured interviews of atheists are analyzed in this paper. Empirical data is analyzed with the reference to socialization and symbolic interactionism theorie. The importance of the Soviet past and the Roman Catholic Church in Lithuania to the current situation of atheism in society is discussed. The paper reveals rather different views of atheists towards the Roman Catholic Church and religious minorities in Lithuania. It also mentions main aspects of criticism towards religion, which are related to ongoing social processes in modern societies. [From the publication]
