ENDalia Asačiovienė and Alvyra Galkienė in their article explore the system of factors that determine the feeling and self esteem of children with special educational needs. The results of the research suggest that families with children with special needs usually enjoy good internal relationships (44 per cent). However, there are families with frequent quarrels, drink and violence. Children with special needs find the opinion of their parents particularly important. Good feeling of children with special needs at school is reflected by their willingness to learn at the school they attend (77 per cent), feeling that they are loved (44 per cent), having fun at school (77 per cent), enjoyment of peer communication (48 per cent). Yet as many as 66 per cent of children with special needs emphasize that they find it hard to learn, therefore only 6 per cent enjoy it. Close link between inner relationships and difficulties experienced in the lessons has been established, as well as link between the family's interest in the child's education and his/her independence. The results of the research have proved the hypothesis of a link present between the family's attitudes towards the child with disability and hisi her feeling at school. [From the publication]
