ENSo far the Pinsk sejmik has not been the object of in-depth historic al research. The article attempts to analyze the role of the sejmik in the mentality of the gentry by presenting the following issues: the ideological concept behind the assembly; the place where sejmiks were held; the competencies of the sejmiks; the role of external factors in the proceedings; as well as exertion and violence during assemblies. Another interesting issue taken up by the author is an attempt at outlining the issue of confronting the attitude of active representatives of various magnate parties with that of people who for various reasons did not participate in political games. This also served as a pretext to present the most important gentry activists in the Pinsk county such as: Michał Stanisław Orzeszko, Piotr Stanisław Godebski and Kasper Parysowicz, whose public activities are not well-known. The discussion was based on a little-known diary of Franciszek Szyrma, a Pinsk podsędek (Latin: subiudex), as well as collections of letters written by members of the Pinsk gentry.
