ENUsing the concept of stratification the author analyses the features of the social being of the poor (111 vagabonds) in the big towns of Lithuania. In the research some approaches are outlined: interpretation, phenomenological, the concepts of subjectivity and alienation. The author concentrates on the main aspects of the way of life of the poor people, their past occupation and changing roles. The investigation of marginal groups includes their relations with society, the features of vagabonds subculture. [From the publication]
