ENThis is the publishing of a handwritten literary treatise, which was written in German in 1680 by Kėdainiai Lutheran Pastor Heinrich Johansen, dedicated to Duchess Liudvika Karolina Radvilaitė and her estate's managers, stewards, and advisors, and preserved in the Königsberg Historical State Archive fund of the Secret State Archive of Prussian Cultural Heritage. Also included are a Latin version of this treatise and two copies, printed without a date in Königsberg and including a brief address to Liudvika Karolina Radvilaitė, of a sermon given on the occasion of the consecration of a church on 27 November 1672. These documents provide a good deal of knowledge about the history of the Kėdainiai Lutheran church and the pastors working in it. Pastor Heinrich Johansen of Bauska (Latvia) is shown as having already worked in Kėdainiai for 13 years. In the treatise intended to eulogise the evangelical representatives of the Radvila line who had granted favourable conditions since the 1620s to the evangelical traders and craftsmen who had come to Kėdainiai as well as to the communities of their churches, Johansen abundantly and accurately cites ancient authors and mentions other historical and literary works, proving that he was making use of no small library in Kėdainiai.
