LTStraipsnyje siekiama atskleisti pagrindines Raseinių valsčiaus raidos tendencijas iki 1564–1566 m. administracinės LDK reformos. Aptariami seniausi Raseinius minintys 1253 m. istorijos šaltiniai, įvertinama jų informacija. Patvirtinama istoriografijos išvada apie tradicišką Raseinių žemės diduomenės palankumą didžiajam kunigaikščiui: jis pastebimas nuo Mindaugo iki Vytauto laikų. Raseiniai buvo neabejotinas centrinės valdžios įtakos plėtojimo Žemaitijoje forpostas. Taip pat aptariami valsčiaus socialinės raidos ypatumai, sukėlę 1418 m. valstiečių nepasitenkinimą, analizuojamas svarbus žiemgalių įsikūrimo Raseinių žemėje XIII a. antroje pusėje faktas, apžvelgiamas valsčiaus demografinis vystymasis ir gyvenimo lygio augimas. Pateikiant Raseinių bajoro dvarelio XVI a. antrosios pusės inventorių, iliustruojami gyventojų kasdienio gyvenimo vaizdai. ENThe article is aimed at revealing main tendencies in the development of Raseiniai small rural district until the administrative reform of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1564–1566. The oldest historical sources mentioning Raseiniai in 1253 are mentioned, their information is assessed. The historiographic conclusion about traditional favour of the nobility of Raseiniai land to the Grand Duke is confirmed: it was observed from the times of Mindaugas till the times of Vytautas. Raseiniai was an unquestionable advanced post of the development of influence of the central power in Samogitia. Also, peculiarities of the social development of the small rural district, which caused the peasants’ dissatisfaction in 1418, are discussed, the important fact of the Semigallians’ settling in Raseiniai land in the second half of the 13th century is analysed, a demographic development and the growth in the standard of living of the small rural district is reviewed. When presenting the inventory of the small estate of a nobleman of Raseiniai of the second half of the 16th century, pictures of everyday life of the inhabitants are illustrated.
