ENCommercialization of university research activities relevant to the recent worldwide. Although all scientific knowledge generated has an impact on intellectual property development, a new generation of discoveries and inventions, but the commercial application of research to develop new technologies and innovation, contributing to the high value-added development and strengthen the country's economy. It is the commercialization of research activity support research ideas become products that find new ways of solving problems, destroys existing transforms old or create new markets. There are new models based on fundamental research commercialization activities, and promote education, business and public sector cooperation. Therefore, this research paper compared various authors opinion, the commercialization of research activity and the role of concepts in the context of the country's economy, compared to Lithuania and various foreign universities, research activity commercialization processes, identified the most significant research applications, to improve the overall level of the country, the possibilities. Scientists reach high results allow to state that the Lithuanian universities with the most qualified, educated, with excellent local knowledge experts. This creates good preconditions to commercially exploit the invention and to improve the lot of the country's economic development internationally. However, the commercialization of scientific results, universities face a number of challenges: innovation in design and development are not the right conditions, the country's leaders do not pay enough attention to the commercialization of innovative technologies, and new technologies in the country's industry is slow.The decline in value of the results of scientific activities, limited only scientific publications, and prevents a strong economy, a stable financial system, and a high level of new technology, innovation viable development opportunities for improvement. While experts recognize the business and science cooperation benefits in Lithuania there is a great divide between businesses and education institutions. So it is necessary to distinguish the process of commercialization of research activity and its importance to other stages of the implementation of the context in which technology path from basic research to application value is long enough.
