ENThe article aims at defining of the factors that became more and more important to the management in the context of changes. The change processes in the contemporary world inevitably promote closer political, economic and cultural contacts and interrelations among states and societies [...] The membership in the EU is the urgent factor, which makes managers and management experts to consider the future changes in Lithuania. Up till now the simplified approach to the management in the economy of Lithuania has prevailed. The western forms of business and the methods of management are often transferred mechanically, not taking into account the local peculiarities of Lithuania [...] Having made proper forecasts on changes and their consequences the heads of organisations would be able to revise their strategies already today and to prepare for tomorrow [...] One of the most urgent issues in the contemporary science of management is to define the most important areas impacted by changes [...] The following problems of contemporary management can be defined: Revision of competitive strategies in organisations taking into account changes in the world-wide trends in demography, economy, culture; New approach to the management; Creative attitude towards performance, collective work; New technologies. These are the problems that are caused by today's social and economic realities. But very soon they will become the decisive factors in the internal policy of all developed and developing countries. No single government will be able to solve the problems separately.
