Lietuvių tautinis kostiumas

LTTautinis kostiumas, pradėtas kurti XIX ir XX amžiaus sandūroje, išgyveno nemažai pokyčių: vieni jo kūrėjai siekė kuo tiksliau atkurti senovinius, jau nebevilkimus kaimo drabužius, kiti mėgino juos keisti taikydamiesi prie naujų poreikių ir madų. Tačiau netgi kūrėjai, pageidaujantys stilizuoto tautinio kostiumo, savo darbe turėjo remtis žiniomis apie buvusią tikrąją kaimo aprangą. Tikrąjį išeiginį kaimo kostiumą atkurti buvo nelengva. XX amžiaus pradžioje kupini entuziazmo tautinio atgimimo veikėjai kaimuose jau neberado visaverčių tradicinės aprangos komplektų. Puošnūs ir saviti XIX amžiaus valstiečių kostiumai buvo atkuriami pagal dar išlikusias pavienes jų dalis ir audinius, senų žmonių prisiminimus, senovinės aprangos aprašymus bei piešinius. <...> Šioje knygoje skaitytojui pristatome fotografijas ir aprašymus kostiumų, pagamintus, kopijuojant išlikusius XIX amžiaus valstiečių išeiginius drabužius ir remiantis ne tik palyginti negausiais ikonografiniais bei rašytiniais šaltiniais, bet ir per kelis pastaruosius dešimtmečius paskelbtais kostiumo tyrinėtojų darbais. Parodyta toli gražu ne viskas, ką būtų galima atkurti. Apsiribota daugiausia vasariniu kostiumu, kuris dažniausiai vilkimas kaip tautinis, nuošalėje paliekant beveik visą šaltojo metų laiko aprangą. Labai mažai parodyta ir vėlyvo kostiumo komplektų, vilkėtų prieš pat kaimiečiams galutinai pakeičiant tradicinę aprangą į miestietišką. ENThe national costume, which started to be created at the turn of the 20th century, experienced a number of changes: some of its creators attempted to recreate the ancient clothing of the village that was not worn anymore as precisely as possible, while others tried to change them by adapting them to the new needs and fashions. However even the designers who wanted a stylised national costume had to base it on information about the genuine former clothing of the village. Recreating a genuine costume worn during important events was not easy. At the beginning of the 20th century figures of the national revival movement full of enthusiasm already could not find a full set of traditional apparel in the rural areas. The ornate and original costumes of rural inhabitants of the 19th century were recreated according to the still surviving parts of individual costumes or patterns, recollections of older people, descriptions and drawing of ancient apparel. We provide photographs and descriptions of costumes made by copying the surviving peasant apparel for celebrations from the 19th century and basing it not only by comparing it to the few iconographic and written sources, but the works of costume researchers published during the last few decades. Not everything that is possible to recreate is shown. The examples are mostly limited to summer costumes, which most often are worn as a national costume, leaving out almost all the apparel worn during the colder times of the year. There are but a few examples provided of the set of apparel that developed later, worn before the rural inhabitants finally switched their traditional apparel to town apparel.
