EN„Sunny Visions“, the exhibition marking the 50th creative anniversary of the textile artist Anicentas Jonutis, was held at the Museum of the Radvilas Palace of Lithuanian Art Museum (LAM) on December 12, 2011 – January 29, 2012. The artist began his individual creative way at a carpet factory and worked therefore more than 20 years. Working at Lentvaris carpet factory, all these years A. Jonutis, together with several of his colleagues, formed the school of Lithuanian industrial carpets. The results of this long-term creative stage were remembered by presenting some of the A. Jonutis’ textile works created at that period for industrial production (floor and wall carpets and their projects). The article provides a detailed description of the characteristics and techniques typical for the carpets that the textile artist created. Working at Lentvaris carpet factory, A. Jonutis also created textile works intended for exhibitions (tapestries, carpets, curtains), as well as engaged in other creative activities – photography, filming (he has accumulated a quite large film archive on famous Lithuanian people), painting with watercolours and drawing. This creative field, reflected by the exhibition, is also dedicated a detailed description in this publication. Aside from the creative, A. Jonutis engaged in pedagogical work as well - taught textile at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art for three decades (1971–2000), lectured at the Department of Textile of Vilnius Academy of Arts (1984–1988), became a docent in 1987. His textile works were awarded – a bronze medal at the Union-wide Exhibition of Economic achievements in 1963 and a 1st Degree Diploma in 1964. In 1974 he was acknowledged as the Honoured Art Worker for his work at Lentvaris carpet factory.During the preparation for the anniversary exhibition of A. Jonutis, the works that reflect 50 years of his creative work were selected from the collections of Lithuanian Art Museum and brought from the artist’s studio, private collections and other institutions.
