ENThe present article deals with the following aspects: the origin and status of contemporary Polish literature in Lithuania, its specific character (main motifs and distinguishing features), awareness of literary tradition in Vilnius, especially permeated with multicultural reminiscences (Mickiewicz, Słowacki, Żagary, Miłosz and others), the most important phenomena and names (reconnaissance) and the state of research into Polish poetry in Lithuania. The article considers the multigenerational tradition of contemporary Polish poetry in Lithuania and analyzes the collections of poetry of the recent decades: R. Mieczkowski, “Nikt nie woła” and “Na litewskim paszporcie”, A. Rybałko and others). Other aspects dealt with are the dialogue of cultures in contemporary Polish poetry in Lithuania, motifs of Polish, Lithuanian, Russian, and Belarussian cultures, foreign elements and their function in texts, experience of the opposition ‘native – foreign’: richness or threat? The article also explores the change in the view of the multinational ‘little homeland’ and the movement from the native multicultural region of Vilnius towards European space.
